Mike MaKinster

Mike MaKinster is the President and founder of MMBKS. As a proven leader in the financial and accounting industry, his skills are born from leading the financial teams of companies large and small. Through his diverse professional experiences, he has shown his ability to efficiently handle the daily financial tasks associated with running a business, to successfully tackle challenges and to quickly adapt to changing business environments.

Twice in his professional career, Mike has been asked to create an accounting department where none existed before. First at PDS Heart, Mike created an accounting system and department from the ground up. Leading the company from start up status to a $17 million dollar business, Mike took on a Great Plains Software integration, outside audit by a Big 4 CPA firm, maintained full financial reporting responsibilities and maximized vendor relationships to control costs. As a member of the Executive Leadership Team, he also embraced the challenge of raising mezzanine financing with Venture Capital group.

Mike’s ability to create and manage a successful and thriving accounting department was rewarded with a position as Chief Financial Officer at Flood Brothers Commercial Relocation. As CFO, he helped to grow Flood Brothers into a multi-million dollar company. Once again, he started from the ground up by building an accounting system and department where there was none before. Working on all financial aspects of the company, including estate, tax planning and return preparation was just a small piece of the puzzle that Mike tackled during his tenure at Flood Brothers. He developed and implemented a full IT infrastructure overhaul, developed an employee bonus structure and launched Flood Brothers’ sister company, Elite Archives.

A graduate of Winthrop University in South Carolina, with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration, Mike has also completed work towards his MBA. He has worked in the convenience store, semi-conductor design, internet service provider, tire industries, and the moving business all in accounting related positions. Mike’s vast experience creating accounting systems and developing strategies for financial success are unmatched.

Born and raised in Pittsburg, Mike and his family now live in the Atlanta area. He is active with MS related charities; a tribute to his father who suffered from MS. Mike is an avid sports fan and actively supports the Chelsea FC, the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Atlanta Falcons.
